Step-by-step

Demonstration of the French Oak Countertop kit

Clean It

Remember to Prep the Surface
  • Wipe Down with denature alcohol mixed with water or with Krud Kutter®
    • NEVER USE TSP PRODUCTS
    (TSP will cause wood based coatings to not adhere properly)


Prime It

with Retique It® Wood'n Primer™
  • Brush, spray or roll on 2 coats of Retique It® Wood'n Primer™
  • Make final strokes long in the direction you want the grain



Grain It

with Retique It® Wood'n Stain™
If you want a smooth finish, you can skip this step. Your brush strokes will make a subtle grain.
  • Brush on a thin coat of Wood'n Stain™ in plank size sections
  • Pull the graining tool through each section while coat is still wet




Stain It

Apply Wood'n Stain™ over the grain
  • Brush on Retique It® Wood'n Stain™
  • Just brush it on. DO NOT WIPE IT OFF like other stains
  • If you want a deeper finish, brush on more coats of Wood'n Stain™

1 Coat

2 Coats

3 Coats




Add Gel StainOptional

  • Apply 1 to 2 coats of Gel stain with a lint-free cloth
  • Allow stain to dry for 2 hours between coats or use a blow dryer to speed up the process.

Color Enhancement – July 2025

As of July 1st, 2025, some of our stain colors, including Weathered Wood, Cedar, Barnwood, and Dark Oak, have been carefully refined to better represent their true tone and intended finish, especially when applied over our Wood'n Primer and Liquid Wood.

While we’ve done our best to keep these updates closely aligned with previous batches, some slight variation may occur compared to product purchased before this date.

If you're working on a project using stain from an earlier order, we recommend testing the new product in a small area before full application to ensure consistency.
