Wood Shades

Retique It® Liquid Wood comes in four base wood shades with a fifth shade that is usually used only for graining.

Light Wood is the most versatile wood shade
  • Gives the greatest depth/contrast of all the colors, especially dark stains
  • Works well with any color stain (except dark cherry)
  • Makes a great base coat when using the graining tool
  • Dark Stains come out as light or dark as you want, depending on how long you let it absorb. (Follow wood stain directions to see the range of time for absorption.)

Dark Wood has deep warm undertones, giving less contrast when used with darker stains.
  • Commonly used for the graining coat over light wood
  • Light Wood is usually a better choice for dark stains.
  • Dark wood is the best choice for a dark cherry stain
  • Use dark wood with dark stains if you don't want as much variation/depth between the stain and the wood.

Bleached Wood gives you fresh new looks with traditional wood stains. Bleached wood is the same as if you sanded down your piece and soaked the wood in bleach.
  • White & gray stains absorb true-to-color with no red undertones.
  • Gray stains are usually not a good choice with Golden Pine
  • Ebony/Black stains come out pewter.
  • See demonstration video

Golden Pine gives you a beautiful golden undertone and exceptional contrast and depth for darker stains.
  • Gives the greatest depth/contrast of all the colors, especially dark stains
  • Gray stains are usually not a good choice with Golden Pine
  • You will love the way Golden Pine brings out the Black and Brown stains

Gray Wood is usually used with graining tool.
  • Gives black grain when used with a graining tool and dark stains
  • Gives fresh new looks when grained over Bleached Wood with lighter colors
  • Does not contain the red or brown undertones normally found in wood
